Hallo and Greetings from our home to yours. Just wanted to share this interesting post with you. This Schoko treat was (is) one of my favorite treats of all time. As described in this post I had it many times squished between a freshly baked plain roll in school for lunch or breakfast. Interesting about this treat is also the history of its name. Without being racist as a kid we used to call it “Negerkuss” which translated would be a “ negro kiss”. When I ordered this sandwich I would say: “ ein Negerkussbrötchen, bitte“, which meant : „ one Negro kiss sandwich, please“, without any intention to be racist. After that the name changed to “Mohrenkopf” which means “the head of a black skinned man”, again no racism involved. But since that became a racism issue they changed the name to Schokokuss, and that’s what it is called to this day. I hope all of you are well. Sending love. Manu and Jeff

Dear Alpenhaus/Java Haus patrons. I would like to inform you with GREAT EXCITEMENT, but not with a slight sorrow in our hearts, that we will give way to a new venue soon to be open AND REPLACE our Alpenhaus and Java Haus. The doors will be closed on December 17th. It is time for Jeff and I to move on to new adventures, and finish projects that are now ready to be finished, and need our full attention and time. We TRULY THANK EVERYONE of you for your patronage for almost 5 years. We have made SO MANY friends, and all of you are TRULY dear to our hearts. We hope to see you all soon. We will be around at times, as Jeff will help the new owner with re creating the Alpenhaus to an awesome Country/Western style pub, and I might pick up a couple of shifts to wait on you, so that way we’ll keep in touch. You won’t get rid of us that easy.😜 Java Haus is going to be just as beautiful and taken over by Barristers, a Coffeeshop located already in Danbury. Both new owners are VERY COMMUNITY oriented and are looking forward to be there for you. We are sure you have a thousand questions and we’ll be happy to answer them when you come see us. One question is: does the new owner accept Alpenhaus Gift Cards and the answer is: YES. That is in the agreement and we will make sure that the agreement will be followed through. The Gift Cards are good until December 2019, 1 year from now. Will there be a automated Bull ride? Answer: NO, there will be not.... I think.🤪 We CAN NOT THANK YOU enough for all the wonderful times we had laughing together, sharing opinions, hugging, playing darts, dancing at our cultural festivities, consoling each other when needed, or simply sitting together and enjoying each other’s company. You New Milford people and surounding towns are THE BEST PEOPLE Jeff and I have ever met!!! 💗💗💗💗💗🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻 Lets welcome the new businesses like you have welcomed us and, don’t forget, we’ll be still around being able to do all we have done before, but now with less worries.
